Nonlinear Spectrum Modulation in the Anomalous Dispersion Regime Using Second- and Third-Order Solitons

چکیده
We study the robustness of a nonlinear frequency-division multiplexing (NFDM) system, based on Zakharov-Shabat spectral problem (ZSSP), that is comprised two independent quadrature phase-shift keyed (QPSK) channels modulated in discrete spectrum associated with distinct eigenvalues. Among many fiber impairments may limit this we focus determining limits due to third-order dispersion, Raman effect, amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise from erbium-doped amplifiers (EDFAs), and losses lumped gain EDFAs. examine impact these 1600-km system by analyzing Q-factor calculated error vector magnitude (EVM) received symbols. found maximum launch power is: 13 dBm 11 3 gain, 2 three combined ASE noise. The all comparable conventional wavelength-division (WDM) even though WDM systems can operate over much larger bandwidth and, consequently, have higher data throughput when compared NFDM systems. find practical transmission EDFAs most stringent limiting factor performance system.

Effects of third-order dispersion on dispersion-managed solitons
We present a comprehensive study of the effects of third-order dispersion (TOD) on dispersion-managed (DM) solitons. The two main effects of TOD are creation of asymmetry of the DM soliton’s profile and generation of continuum radiation. Considering these two effects, we derive a conservative bound on the magnitude of TOD below which it will not have a significant detrimental effect on DM solit...

certain coherent displacements did indeed linearly perturb the dispersion. This observation led to several studies of systematic’ and random8 errors with the conclusion that this effect stems from the fact that the dispersion in the Arcs is not always matched (especially in the vertical plane) due to the necessity of rolling the achromats about the beam axis to follow the site terrain. We will ...
متن کاملInstabilities of dispersion-managed solitons in the normal dispersion regime
Dispersion-managed solitons are reviewed within a Gaussian variational approximation and an integral evolution model. In the normal regime of the dispersion map (when the averaged path dispersion is negative), there are two solitons of different pulse duration and energy at a fixed propagation constant. We show that the short soliton with a larger energy is linearly (exponentially) unstable. Th...
متن کاملEffect of third-order dispersion on dark solitons.
Third-order dispersion has a detrimental effect on dark solitons, leading to resonant generation of growing soliton tails and soliton decay. This effect is shown to be much stronger than that for bright solitons.
